About This Class:

This class meets Tuesdays 6-9p, Sept 16th – Dec 30th (16 weeks)

POTTERY III is 16-week directed studio opportunity for adult students with excellent clay skills, craftsmanship, and technique.

POTTERY III students work semi-independently, pursuing clay as an art form in the production of both functional and nonfunctional pieces.

Students are expected to:

 •  with the instructors, set individual learning and production goals which reflect intentional growth as a clay artist.

 •  participate in regular group discussion, analysis and critique.

 •  demonstrate a solid knowledge of the elements and principles of design as related to clay.

 •  participate in solo or group exhibits or displays of their work.

 •  to participate in alternative firings: RAKU, baaarel-firing, obvara, etc.

 •  continually research the techniques and work of historical and contemporary potters through current publications, books, and internet resources.
